PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Trailing by 10 points early in the first

quarter and in the midst of a franchise-record 16-game road losing

streak, Orlando Magic head coach Brian Hill knew exactly where to

turn.

The bench.

Orlando's reserves outscored Philadelphia's bench 50-28 and the

Magic pulled away for a 102-86 win over a 76ers team that is

fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

"I can't say enough good things about the bench," Hill said.

"I thought early in the game we lacked energy. Guys came in and

picked it up for us; picked up our defensive intensity. It was

basically the same thing in the second half. We got good shots and

good offensive production from our bench."

Carlos Arroyo scored 16 points, Keyon Dooling had 12, and Darko

Milicic and Trevor Ariza each added 11 off the bench for Orlando,

which hadnt won away from home since its last trip to Philadelphia

a 119-115 overtime victory over the Sixers on Jan. 26.

But it wasnt all the reserves, as Orlando finished with seven

players in double figures. Dwight Howard enjoyed a huge game with

15 points, 19 rebounds, five assists and four blocks.

"Hes a great talent, hes awesome, said Magic point guard Jameer

Nelson, who finished with 19 points and seven assists. "He's only

going to get better and thats scary for the league.

Tony Battie was the other Magic player in double figures with 10

points.

Orlando controlled the game on both ends of the court. The Magic

shot 56 percent from the floor (40-for-71), outrebounded

Philadelphia 47-33, and held Sixers guard Allen Iverson to 17

points on 4-for-19 shooting.

"I struggled on both ends of the court and I just couldnt get

in a rhythm out there, said Iverson, who finished with 10 assists.

"When I struggle the way I did tonight, as a team we are obviously

going to struggle.

Chris Webber led the Sixers with 23 points and 15 rebounds, but

missed eight straight shots in one stretch during the first half.

Kyle Korver hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18.

Philadelphia (32-36) has dropped eight of its last 10 games, but

still is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

"It was just an ugly game starting in the first half, said

Webber, who admitted after the game to being embarrassed. "You

have games like that during the season because its a long season,

but right now we just cant afford to have that type of game.

The Sixers stormed to an 11-1 lead in the first four minutes,

but Orlando quickly turned things around with an 11-0 run and

didn't trail after the midway point of the first quarter.

Korver tied the game at 53 with a 3-pointer early in the third,

but Howard hit a pair of baskets and Nelson scored on a driving

layup to extend the lead back to 59-53.

Samuel Dalembert's jumper brought the Sixers within 76-67 early

in the fourth quarter, but Milicic hit three straight baskets and

Orlando pulled away.Game notes
Philadelphia president Billy King announced before the game

that forward Jamal Mashburn had been waived. Mashburn, who hasn't

played in two years because of a right knee injury and never suited

up for the 76ers, subsequently retired from the NBA.
