News: 7 hours agoThielen (foot) corralled 11 of 13 targets for 126 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-28 overtime win over the Panthers.
Spin: Thielen had a foot injury crop up following last week's contest, but both he and Justin Jefferson (ankle) were cleared for action Sunday. The 30-year-old re-established himself as a key part of the Vikings' air attack with new season highs in receptions (11), yards (126) and targets (13) after seemingly taking a back seat to Jefferson over the past few weeks. Perhaps this monster performance will remind Kirk Cousins that the reliable veteran wideout can still wreak havoc on defenses when Minnesota returns from its bye week to take on the Cowboys in Week 8.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: He may have been overshadowed a bit by rookie Justin Jefferson, but Thielen put together another tremendous season in 2020. The 2014 UDFA posted a 74-925-14 receiving line, and his 20 end zone targets were three more than any other player. Thielen disappeared at times (six games with single-digit fantasy points) but delivered a high ceiling with six top-10 fantasy weeks (tied for third most) in 15 games. He has now finished three of the past four seasons as a top-10 fantasy WR. Thielen is now 31 years old, but Minnesota's lack of WR depth positions him to handle nearly one-quarter of the targets again this season. Consider Thielen a solid WR2.
