News: 4 days agoChubb and the Browns agreed to a three-year, $36.6 million extension Saturday that includes $20 million guaranteed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Spin: The 2018 second-round pick was entering the final year of his rookie deal, but he's now under contract with Cleveland through the 2024 campaign. Chubb played in 12 games last year and ran for 1,067 yards and 12 touchdowns on 5.6 yards per carry after breaking out with 1,494 rushing yards in 2019. He's projected to remain one of the top running backs in the league for the foreseeable future despite Kareem Hunt also being in the backfield mix.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Chubb enters his fourth NFL season as the lead dog in a Cleveland backfield that also includes standout Kareem Hunt. Chubb missed four games in 2020, but was very productive in 11 full regular season games with Hunt. He racked up 184 carries and 19 targets and only three RBs scored more fantasy points during the span. Aside of a rough Week 1, Chubb finished the other 10 games he played in full as a top-22 fantasy back. We know Chubb is a terrific rusher (his career 5.23 YPC and 2.28 YAC both rank second among qualified RBs), but we also saw an all-important boost in targets down the stretch last season (16 in his final four games). The 25-year-old will operate behind arguably the league's best offensive line and is a top-10 fantasy RB in all formats.
