News: 2 days agoMahomes completed 15 of 29 pass attempts for 184 yards and an interception while adding 12 yards and a touchdown on four rush attempts in Sunday's 22-9 win over Denver.
Spin: Mahomes was stymied by the Broncos' aggresive approach on defense, as the constant pressure kept the quarterback from developing rhythm in the pocket. In the superstar's defense, his lone interception came as a result of a dropped pass by Tyreek Hill that bounced into Patrick Surtain's hands. Mahomes finished without a passing touchdown for the second consecutive game and third time overall this season; he did not have any zero-passing-touchdown games in 2020. Despite his recent struggles, the Chiefs continue to win and sit at 8-4 heading into an important matchup against the Raiders next Sunday.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: If not for resting in Week 17 last season, Mahomes may have paced the QB position in fantasy points for the second time in three seasons. Regardless, the 25-year-old still managed his third straight elite showing, ranking top five in pass attempts, passing yards, passing TDs and YPA while also finishing 10th among QBs in rushing yards. Kansas City's overhauled offensive line should cure the pass-blocking woes that plagued the team during the Super Bowl loss and Mahomes will be working in the Chiefs' extremely pass-heavy scheme with the likes of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce at his disposal. The former league and Super Bowl MVP should be the first QB selected in your fantasy draft.
