News: 6 hours agoDarnold completed 17 of 29 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions during Sunday's 36-7 loss to the Colts. He also rushed for 20 yards on five carries.
Spin: It was another disaster all around for the Jets. Darnold's second pass attempt of the game resulted in a pick-six, and he tossed a second INT that was returned to the end zone by the Colts in the third quarter. Darnold was also sacked for a safety in the fourth after starting left tackle Mekhi Becton (shoulder) was knocked out of the game. While he isn't the sole cause of his team's problems, Darnold hasn't been good enough to overcome all the Jets' other issues, either. He'll try to get things going in Week 4 against a Broncos defense that just allowed nearly 300 passing yards and three TDs to Tom Brady.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Darnold's career is off to a slow start, with the USC product having missed three games due to injury/illness during each of his two seasons. He has a total of 39 touchdowns to go along with 28 INTs, and his 60% completion rate and 6.9 YPA are both well below average. Darnold hasn't been afraid to push the ball down the field (8.9 aDOT), but he adds little with his legs and has made little fantasy impact. The 2018 third overall pick posted four top-10 fantasy weeks but was 20th or worse in eight of his other nine outings last season. With an improved line and Chris Herndon back, Darnold's supporting cast is better in 2020, but he'll need a giant leap in order to come close to the QB1 discussion.
