News: 3 hours agoHead coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that he's "hopeful" that both Barkley (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (hamstring) will both be cleared to play against the Panthers on Sunday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

Spin: Barkley was sidelined for Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Jaguars in London due to a right hamstring injury that he sustained during the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams. Wednesday will be the first Eagles practice of Week 6 prep, and even a limited session would have Barkley trending toward a return against Carolina. Will Shipley was diagnosed with a partial tear of his plantar fascia following Sunday's game, and with Barkley and Tank Bigsby (abdomen, IR) both sidelined, that currently leaves Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele as the two healthy running backs on the Eagles' 53-man roster.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Barkley is looking to rebound in his ninth NFL season (third with the Eagles) following a big step back in 2025. After producing 2,283 yards and 15 touchdowns on 378 touches in his first season with Philly, Barkley dipped to 1,413 yards and nine scores on 317 touches in 2025. Barkley fell from first among backs in fantasy points per game (22.5) to 15th (14.5). Now 29 years old, it's possible Barkley's best days are behind him, but he's still positioned as a clear feature back in a good offense that will have a healthier line and a new playcaller in Sean Mannion. Barkley is riskier than ever, but he's still worthy of mid- to back-end RB1 consideration.
