News: 2 days agoCoach Doug Pederson said Monday that Etienne is dealing with a sprained foot, but the running back doesn't require a boot or crutches, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Spin: Pederson added that Etienne will be eased into practice during the week. Given that context, Etienne likely will have his practice reps capped, but it sounds like Jacksonville's starting running back could be back on the field as soon as Sunday's Week 13 game in Detroit.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Etienne was selected by the Jaguars with the 25th pick of the 2021 draft, but missed his entire rookie season with a foot injury. He's back for 2022 and positioned for a big workload with running mate James Robinson recovering from a torn Achilles. Etienne was arguably the most explosive back in last year's class and also brings speed and strong pass-catching ability to the table. He racked up a massive 6,107 yards and 78 TDs on 788 touches at Clemson, which included 85 receptions over his final two seasons. Etienne's elusiveness jumps off the page, as his 4.1 YAC ranked third and his 3.3 forced missed tackle rate sixth in the 2021 class. Etienne's output may eventually be limited by Robinson, but he has a path to, at least, RB2 production out of the gate.
