News: 4 days agoCarter rushed 11 times for 39 yards and caught one of two targets for seven yards in Sunday's 27-12 loss to the Bengals.
Spin: Carter had five targets to Breece Hall's one last week, but Hall flipped the script with 11 targets this week, and the rookie second-round pick needed only eight carries to match Carter's rushing yardage total of 39. Both Jets running backs can play in all situations, which makes it tough to handicap how their touches will be distributed in Week 4 against the Steelers and beyond.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Carter is entering his second season with the Jets, though his fantasy value took a major hit when the team drafted Breece Hall in April. Carter -- a 2021 fourth-round pick -- shared backfield duties during most of his first season, but he showed his upside when called upon for a larger workload around midseason. Carter hit a high in Week 8 against the Bengals, pacing all backs in fantasy points thanks to 172 yards and a score on 24 touches. His playing time dwindled from there, however, and he missed three games due to injury. Carter impressed as a rookie and has upside as a receiver, but he's a bit undersized and is now likely to be limited to situational carries and a passing-down role behind Hall. Carter has some insurance appeal, but he figures to struggle for consistent flex production.
