News: 6 days agoGibson carried 20 times for 128 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 25-3 win over the Cowboys.
Spin: Gibson gashed the struggling Dallas defense for 6.4 yards per carry while scoring a 12-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He failed to haul in his only target in the passing game, but that was mostly due to the fact that his team played from ahead for most of the game and was content to keep the ball on the ground for the most part. Gibson could receive a similar workload in what should be a competitive game against the Giants in Week 9 following the WFT's bye, and he'll look to add to his current string of four touchdowns in the last six games.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Washington selected Gibson with the 66th pick of April's draft. Gibson appeared to be entering the league as more of an 'offensive weapon' than a wide receiver or running back, but he has settled in as the team's lead back, even drawing comparisons to Christian McCaffrey by head coach Ron Rivera. The Memphis product is big (6-foot, 228 pounds) and a terrific athlete with excellent power, speed (4.39 40-yard dash) and elusiveness. He's a terror with the ball in his hands, having averaged 8.4 yards per carry and 13.1 yards per target (11.9 RAC) in 2019. Experience is a concern here (33 carries and 66 targets in two FBS seasons), but it appears he's done enough to play a huge role as a rookie. Consider Gibson a flex option with upside.
