- Stephen A.: Jerry Jones is 'not playing' with Trey Lance trade
- Could the Russell Wilson trade affect Dak's future with the Cowboys?
- Pablo Torre: 49ers 'ate a giant sunk cost' by trading Trey Lance
News: 2 days agoLance (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots but is designated as the Cowboys' emergency quarterback, Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Spin: Lance has filled the emergency QB role in each of the Cowboys' first four games of the season. The third-year pro will only see action against New England if both Dak Prescott and backup Cooper Rush are forced to exit the game due to injury.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Lance was traded to the Cowboys in exchange for a fourth round pick and will battle Cooper Rush for backup duties behind Dak Prescott. The third overall pick of the 2021 draft has been limited to three full games in two seasons. Lance entered 2022 as the 49ers' starter, but went down for the season with an ankle injury in Week 2. He has massive upside as a rusher (174 yards on 37 carries in his three full games) and he's only 23 years old, so the jury remains out on just how good he'll be in the pros. Of course, he'll need a Prescott injury in order to see the field. He's only worth a late flier in dynasty.
