News: 4 days agoAllen rushed three times for four yards and caught his lone target for five yards in Friday's 17-0 preseason win over the Steelers.

Spin: Allen got the start at running back in the absence of Breece Hall (groin) and played the opening drive along with the team's starters. That possession produced a touchdown, but Geno Smith's arm did the heavy lifting rather than Allen's legs. The Jets are optimistic that Hall will be back by Week 1, and Isaiah Davis (knee) could push Allen for the top backup spot once healthy. Allen is the team's top available RB at the moment, but this is a situation that will be worth monitoring in the coming weeks.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Hopes were high for Allen entering 2025, but a slow start was followed by a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. During Weeks 1-3, Allen played 28% of the Jets' snaps and totaled 67 yards and one touchdown on 16 touches. The 2024 fourth-round pick has shown he can contribute as both a rusher (110 career carries) and receiver (32 targets), but he's simply not going to see the field much as long as feature back Breece Hall is healthy. Allen, 22, has some late-round insurance stash appeal, as he'd likely start over Isaiah Davis in the event of a Hall injury and would thus find himself on the flex radar.
