Miami wins fourth straight at home

MIAMI (AP) -- Dwyane Wade set a career-high for the second time

in a week.

Wade scored 33 points, eclipsing by one the career-high he set

Tuesday, to lead five players in double figures Sunday as the Miami

Heat defeated Golden State 104-93.

"He just seems to be improving more and more each day," Heat

coach Stan Van Gundy said. "I am sure he is going to have some bad

nights in the future, but right now he is playing great

basketball."

The Heat bounced back from consecutive losses at Philadelphia

and Memphis to win their fourth straight home game.

Eddie Jones added 21 points and shot 9-for-10 from the field,

and reserve guard Rafer Alston scored 15 points. The Heat was

10-for-16 from 3-point range, including Wade's consecutive 3s from

the baseline early in the fourth quarter for a 92-76 lead.

"I know shooting will open up not only my game, but will open

up more for the team," Wade said. "I can't drive the whole

season. I have confidence in my shot."

The rookie from Marquette has had a strong month, scoring in

double figures in all 10 of Miami's games. Wade had 32 points

Tuesday against Atlanta, 22 on Wednesday against the 76ers and 21

against the Grizzlies on Friday night.

"Lately, I've been trying to shoot more jumpers to try to keep

the defense off," Wade said. "Tonight, I had opportunities. They

left me open. A lot of teams don't leave me open."

Warriors coach Eric Musselman acknowledged his team's defensive

lapse on the perimeter.

"If you don't contest shots, guys get confidence, then they can

step two feet beyond their range and make those shots as well,"

Musselman said.

Nick Van Exel and Jason Richardson each scored 17 points to lead

Golden State.

After victories over New York and Atlanta to open a four-game

road streak, the Warriors dropped two straight with Sunday's loss

and a 26-point defeat at Orlando on Friday.

"If we play hard, we could have had this game," Richardson

said. "Miami was the aggressor and when you are, you will win.

"Every team has their ups and downs and we just need to fight

through it."

In addition to a strong perimeter game, Miami got a 15-rebound

performance from Lamar Odom.

"I attack the boards early and let them know I'm coming," Odom

said. "It gets us out on the fast break and gets us some easy

shots."

Except for a 2-0 deficit, Miami led throughout the first half

and enjoyed its biggest advantage on Wade's 3-pointer with 4:20

remaining that made it 45-32.Game notes
Odom's nine first-quarter rebounds were the most by a Heat

player in a period this season. Eight of his rebounds were on the

defensive end, tying a franchise record done four previous times.

... Warriors center Erick Dampier had four blocks in the second

half and finished with five.
