ESPN Fantasy Projection: Hamilton's first season in New Jersey back in 2021-22 was a struggle. He was banged-up for a good portion of the year and didn't produce much (9 goals, 30 points in 62 games) when healthy. Dougie looked like an obvious buy-low candidate in fantasy drafts last fall and rewarded those who took the plunge. Hamilton set new career-best marks in goals (22), assists (54), points (76), shots on goal (275) and power-play points (28) last year. His 76 points placed him fourth among defensemen behind only Erik Karlsson, Josh Morrissey and Quinn Hughes. The Devils are a team on the rise and Hamilton is their unquestioned No. 1 defensive option, making him a legitimate top-flight fantasy play in all formats in 2023-24.
