Spin: Gibson drew the start during Tuesday's exhibition and played the first two periods before being replaced by Trey Augustine. Gibson made 57 regular-season appearances in his first year for Detroit in 2025-26, going 29-22-4 with a 2.72 GAA and a .901 save percentage. He's expected to serve as the Red Wings' starting goaltender again in the 2026-27 campaign, with Daniil Tarasov operating as the No. 2 option.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Gibson joined the Red Wings last season after a dozen years in Anaheim and managed to make 57 appearances for his new club, his most since the 2018-19 campaign. Gibson's 29 wins were the second-most of his career, while his 2.77 GAA was his best mark since 2017-18. He also managed four shutouts after picking up just five in his prior 219 games over the course of five seasons. Gibson showed enough last season that it's not out of the realm of possibility he could finish as a top-12 fantasy netminder this coming year, but given his past injury woes, he's probably best served as a high-end No. 2 option.
