News: 2 days agoInterim general manager Shawn Horcoff said Wednesday that Larkin recently sustained an upper-body injury while training and won't be skating when camp begins, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.

Spin: Larkin's offseason has been headlined by his June trade request, but the Red Wings haven't yet found a trade partner, and he was expected to report to training camp despite being stripped of his captaincy. However, he'll miss at least some time to begin camp, and it's not yet clear when he could return to action.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Larkin tallied 30-plus goals last season (34) for the fifth straight year despite the fact he missed eight games. He finished with 67 points -- including 24 with the man advantage -- and 227 shots on goal in 74 appearances. His nine game-winning goals tied for third-most in the NHL. Larkin requested a trade from the Red Wings this offseason, which as of early July had not been granted. He's going to play a key role no matter where he ends up, but it's difficult to envision a destination which is better for Larkin than Detroit from a fantasy standpoint. He's a floor-based mid-round option.
