Fresh off a 2021-22 campaign which saw him post 35 goals in 82 games on the strength of an inflated 18.9 shooting percentage, Mangiapane saw his shooting percentage drop to an abnormally low 9.3 in 2022-23 and the result was an underwhelming 17 goals. Mangiapane also ran into some bad luck with the man advantage, managing just four power-play points despite averaging a career-best 2:05 worth of ice time per night a man up. As is generally the case, the truth likely lies somewhere in the middle. Mangiapane certainly isn't a 35-goal scorer in a typical year, but the advanced numbers suggest he's due for a bounce back in 2023-24, making him a late-round fantasy option in most formats.
