Fantasy Hockey
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Rantanen suffered a lower-body injury at the Olympics which cost him a month's worth of NHL action upon returning stateside. All told, he appeared in 64 games in his first full season with the Stars, managing 22 goals and 77 points. His power-play production (34 points) remained elite, but he was shooting the puck less than ever, finishing with just 139 shots on goal. This is a guy that racked up 306 shots on goal as recently as the 2022-23 campaign. Even prorated over a full 82-game season, Rantanen's goal scoring numbers would have taken a huge hit. It remains to be seen if this is a one-year blip or a sign of things to come. If it's indeed the latter, it's going to be difficult for Rantanen to produce first-round fantasy value like he did in his Colorado days.
