News: 2 days agoVejmelka kicked out 19 of 22 shots in a 6-3 exhibition win over Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Spin: Utah held a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes, and Vejmelka never allowed the Kings to even the score from there. He had a 38-20-3 record, 2.75 GAA and .896 save percentage in 64 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Vejmelka's likely to get a heavy workload once again as Utah's No. 1 option in 2026-27.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: The Mammoth rode Vejmelka hard last season in their attempt to lock down a playoff spot. He appeared in 64 games, five more than any other goaltender. Vejmelka's 38 victories were one behind Vezina Trophy winner Andrei Vasilevskiy for the league lead. His 2.75 GAA was plenty reasonable considering how much action he saw, although Vejmelka's .896 save percentage left much to be desired. It's exceedingly rare for any goaltender in today's NHL to play 60-plus games in a season, let alone in back-to-back years. The most likely result is that the 30-year-old sees his workload scaled back some, which will likely help his ratios improve some.
