News: 4 hours agoOettinger will play the first two periods of Monday's home clash with Colorado, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Spin: Oettinger racked up 30 wins in 48 games last season along with a 2.53 GAA and .914 save percentage. The 23-year-old netminder managed to compile all those victories despite limited action and could add to those totals this year with a fuller schedule of games.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Oettinger emerged as the top option in a crowded Dallas crease last season, and the 23-year-old Minnesota native has a clear path to a full starter's workload this year, as Ben Bishop and Braden Holtby are gone while Anton Khudobin's recovering from what could be a career-threatening hip injury. After going 41-23-8 with a 2.46 GAA and .913 save percentage over the past two seasons, Oettinger should be up to the task of carrying the load for a Stars team that has playoff aspirations after qualifying for the postseason three times in the last four campaigns. While Oettinger's arrow is pointing up, it's worth noting that the Stars changed coaches from the defense-first Rick Bowness to the more offensive-minded Peter DeBoer, which could lead to a few more chances against Oettinger, but also more goal support.
