Spin: Evangelista was traded to New Jersey from Nashville on Sept. 1. The 24-year-old is now locked in as a core part of the Devils' forward group before ever playing a game for his new team. After a 56-point regular season in 2025-26, Evangelista should benefit from having a bit more talent around him this year. Expect another step forward from the playmaking winger as long as he sees steady top-six minutes.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Evangelista's dozen goals in 81 games was highly disappointing, but it's hard to get too upset about it given how much he increased his assist numbers. Evangelista's 44 helpers -- including 17 with the man advantage -- exactly doubled his total from the year prior, with a career-best 56 points being the end result. If you're looking for a positive in the goals scored department, Evangelista's 176 shots on goal were his most to date and his 6.8 percent shooting percentage was his lowest to date, so a rebound of some sort seems likely. Additionally, a move to New Jersey could see him playing an increased role that could further improve his goal-scoring production. If that happens and the assist total holds even somewhat, you have a sneaky mid-round fantasy option on your hands.
