Fantasy Hockey
News: 1 day agoCarlsson scored a goal and added a power-play assist in Sunday's 6-2 preseason win over the Sharks.
Spin: Carlsson is firmly cemented as Anaheim's No. 1 center, and he will have a lot to live up to after signing a five-year, $90 million contract with the team in July. The 21-year-old's offensive output has increased in each of his first three seasons in the NHL, and that trend should continue in 2026-27 if he plays in most, or all, of the team's regular-season games.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Carlsson had a breakout season across the board despite the fact he missed a dozen games due to injury. In 70 appearances, he set new high-water marks in goals (29), assists (38), points (67), shots on goal (193), and power-play points (18). When you take into account the fact Carlsson didn't turn 21 years of age until the day after Christmas, it's reasonable to expect another significant step forward in terms of production this coming year. The Swede could easily crack the point-per-game mark in 2026-27, with the ability to top the century mark in scoring at some point down the line not out of the question. Invest with confidence early and often.
