Stephane Ruffier was the hero for St Etienne in the Coupe de France, saving the decisive spot-kick against Boulogne to book his side's semi-final berth.
Ruffier kept out Xavier Mercier's penalty kick as St Etienne won 4-3 in the shootout, after both sides had scored a goal apiece in normal time of their last-eight clash.
Visitors St Etienne had taken the lead on 80 minutes when Ruffier failed to keep out Anthony Soubervie's penalty.
However, Boulogne forced the game into extra-time after Benjamin Corgnet headed in from a Yohann Mollo free-kick five minutes before the end.
