Marseille back on track with thumping win over Bastia

Marseille got their stuttering start to the new Ligue 1 season back on track with a thumping 4-1 defeat of Bastia at the Stade Velodrome.

Defender Benjamin Mendy set the tone early when his 15 minute thunderbolt flew past Jesper Hansen to set the hosts on their way.

Romain Alessandrini bundled his way in to the area just after the restart to add his side's second, before adding a Marseille third 20 minutes later, steering the ball into the bottom corner from inside the area.

Michy Batshuayi netted a fourth for the hosts from close range on 70 minutes before Brandao grabbed a Bastia consolation against his former employers late on.
