Gladbach miss two penalties as 10-man Hamburg hold firm

Borussia Monchengladbach missed two penalties as they were held to a goalless draw at home by 10-man Hamburg.

Gladbach should have taken the lead in the 26th minute when they were awarded their first penalty for Cleber's foul on Lars Stindl. The Hamburg man was sent off.

However, Andre Hahn's powerful penalty was saved by Rene Adler, who guessed right to keep his team on terms.

Gladbach were awarded another penalty on the hour mark and Hahn this time left Stindl the ball, but he struck the crossbar with his spot-kick.

It summed up a frustrating afternoon for the Foals, who failed to bounce back from a 4-0 defeat to Schalke a fortnight ago and remain outside the top six as a result.
