Farrell's 5 RBIs, Frahm's complete game lead Nebraska past Oklahoma State in super regional opener


Jesse Farrell hit a three-run homer and finished with five RBIs, while Jordy Frahm tossed a complete game to power Nebraska to an 8-1 victory over Oklahoma State on Friday at Bowlin Stadium in the opener of the Lincoln Super Regional.

Frahm was effective for Nebraska (50-6) in the circle and at the plate. She allowed just one run on five hits and struck out seven batters over seven innings. She also contributed offensively, going 2-for-4.

Farrell hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Cornhuskers a 3-0 lead. She added a two-run single during a four-run third inning that extended the margin to 7-0. Ava Kuszak, Samantha Bland and Hannah Camenzind each had two hits for the Huskers, with Kuszak, Kacie Hoffmann and Bella Bacon also driving in runs.

The game featured a pitching matchup of two Nebraska natives, with Frahm facing Oklahoma State's Ruby Meylan. Karli Godwin provided the lone run for Oklahoma State (41-16) with a solo homer in the sixth inning, finishing 1-for-2. Madison Hoffman led the team with two hits. Meylan allowed seven earned runs on eight hits in two innings.

Severe weather on Thursday forced the game to be rescheduled for Friday.
