SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said it’s fair to say the league still prefers a 16-team playoff model, but he expects to make a formal decision this fall after learning more about the Big Ten’s 24-team format. “We've not taken votes or positions,” he said after the second day of spring meetings. “I said no decisions will be made, so we default to where we've been, which is 16.”
