Sources: James Madison defensive coordinator Colin Hitschler is finalizing a deal to become the new defensive coordinator at UCLA. Hitschler is a veteran coach who worked as the co-defensive coordinator at Alabama, Wisconsin and Cincinnati prior to JMU.
In his lone season at JMU, the defense finished No. 1 in conference play in scoring defense, rush defense and pass defense. He’s been part of College Football Playoff staffs at both JMU and Cincinnati, which came in 2021 under Luke Fickell.
