BOX SCORE
CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) _ Three hits each by Pat Burrell and Travis Lee was just the production Phillies manager Larry Bowa was looking for. ``Travis swung very good; Burrell swung good. We're swinging the bats a little bit right now,'' Bowa said Friday after Philadelphia beat the Minnesota Twins 9-6. Philadelphia started the eight players it expects in the lineup in the season opener against Florida. Six of those players are hitting at least .333, led by Doug Glanville at .469 and Burrell at .410. Lee, who had been hitting .156, raised his average to .222 by going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. ``You can tell from the way he's swinging in batting practice that he's a different hitter this year,'' Burrell said of Lee. ``With (Bobby) Abreu and (Scott) Rolen and (Mike) Lieberthal, if Travis and I can pick up what they leave out there, we should have some fun.'' Phillies starter Chris Brock, competing for the fifth spot in the rotation, allowed five runs and four hits in 2 1-3 innings, including a three-run homer by Jacques Jones. Brock's ERA rose to 7.45. ``If one bad outing is going to cost me the fifth spot, I didn't have a very good shot anyway,'' Brock said. ``It obviously was not a good day. But spring training is to build up arm strength.'' Burrell hit a two-run double in the third off Eric Milton and a two-run homer in the fifth. Lieberthal followed with his first spring homer, tying it 5-all. Matt Lawton put Minnesota ahead in the sixth, with Denny Hocking sliding home just ahead of Abreu's throw from right field. Abreu hit an RBI grounder in the bottom half and Jimmy Rollins scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch by loser Johan Santana. Jose Mesa pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the spring. Notes: The Phillies cut nine players. Optioned to Triple-A Scranton were OFs Reggie Taylor and Eric Valent and P David Coggin were optioned to Triple-A Scranton. P Jimmy Osting and SS Nick Punto were optioned to Double-A Reading. Ps Jason Boyd and Rigo Beltran, 1B Gene Schall and C Eric Schreimann were reassigned to the minor league complex. ... Rain delayed the start of the game for 14 minutes.
