LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida (Ticker) -- Carlos Garcia homered twice for the New York Yankees, who played the Atlanta Braves to a 9-9 tie in 10 innings in the Grapefruit League. Garcia hit his third and fourth spring homers and drove in three runs for the Yankees, who had 20 hits. Andy Morales had two RBI and seven different Yankees collected two hits each. Red-hot Wes Helms had three more hits, including his fourth spring homer, and drove in two runs for the Braves, who had 14 hits. Travis Wilson and Kurt Abbott also homered for Atlanta. Wilson had four hits, three RBI and two runs and Brian Jordan had two hits and scored twice. After the Yankees scored twice in the top of the ninth to take a 9-8 lead, the Braves tied it in the bottom half as Marcus Giles drew a bases-loaded walk from Kevin Lovinger. Neither starter pitched well. New York's Adrian Hernandez gave up four runs and four hits in three innings. Atlanta's John Smoltz, making his second spring start after missing the entire 2000 season due to surgery, allowed three runs and six hits in three innings.
