FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ Brady Anderson homered and Jason Johnson pitched five strong innings as the Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Mets 5-4 Friday. Johnson allowed two runs and three hits. Bidding for one of two open spots in Baltimore's rotation, Johnson is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA in four spring starts. Anderson hit the second pitch from starter Rick Reed into the right-field bleachers, and the Orioles extended their lead to 2-0 on Jeff Conine's RBI double later in the first. Jay Payton's wind-aided, two-run homer off Johnson tied the game in the fourth. Payton leads the Mets with 11 RBIs. Mike Bordick hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the fifth off loser Rick White. In the sixth, an error by Mets right fielder Jorge Toca allowed a run to score and Ivanon Coffie's RBI made it 5-2. Mike Trombley got a first save despite giving up an RBI single to Desi Relaford. Reed, who had pitched five hitless innings in two starts, gave up two runs and five hits in four innings.
