ESPN Fantasy Projection: Every season, a handful of players surprise us with career years out of nowhere; Escobar was in that group in 2019. The expected stats suggested that Escobar overachieved in 2018, which left many skeptical of what he would do in 2019. He silenced his critics and then some with a career season, but the expected stats once again suggest pessimism of a repeat, indicating that Escobar overachieved in batting average and slugging percentage. Back-to-back seasons of 600-plus plate appearances is nice, and he has made the most of the playing time to compile some solid-to-awesome production. The running game is the only area where he is not helping you, but he provides enough run production that you'll forgive him for not running. There is nothing special in his indicators, but it's tough to argue with his work the past two seasons.
