Around the Octagon
Sergei Pavlovich is the heavyweight backup to this week's UFC 285 main event, per his manager Ali Abdelaziz. Dana White mentioned last weekend there is a backup in place. Pavlovich will weigh-in on Friday in Vegas, per Abdelaziz.
UFC middleweights Edmen Shahbazyan and Anthony Hernandez will meet on May 20, per sources. Shahbazyan looked good in a KO win in December. Hernandez has won three in a row and signed a new contract with the UFC in addition to this fight.
Tim Simpson, one of the top agents in MMA, has departed Paradigm Sports Management and started his own firm called Chosen Advisory Group, per a release. Simpson will continue to rep Israel Adesanya, Leon Edwards and Jiri Prochazka, among others. Also joining Simpson with Chosen will be former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway, whose former manager Chris Daggett recently stepped away. Simpson also reps Casey O'Neill, Muhammad Mokaev, Jack Della Maddalena, Jack Hermansson and Don Madge.
