News: 5 days agoGronkowski failed to bring in his only target in the Buccaneers' 31-17 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
Spin: The multi-time Pro Bowler has not looked the part over the first two games of his NFL return after a one-year sabbatical. Gronk's legendary rapport with future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady has yet to materialize; in fact, the tight end was the intended target Sunday on Brady's lone interception. Gronkowski's fantasy dud was made all the more galling by the fact receiver Chris Godwin (concussion) was sidelined for the contest, which could have seemingly set up the former for a significant boost in opportunity. Gronkowski will look to put his forgettable 2020 start behind him when the Buccaneers clash with the Broncos in a Week 3 interconference road battle.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Gronk is back! The longtime Patriots' superstar ended his retirement and was traded to the Buccaneers, where he'll reunite with his former quarterback Tom Brady. Gronkowski sat out last season after ending 2018 with his seventh fantasy finish of 11th or better in nine NFL seasons. When healthy, effectiveness has never been an issue for Gronkowski (he has never played a season in which he was lower than seventh among tight ends in yards per target or yards per reception), but durability has been an issue (he hasn't appeared in a full 16-game regular season since 2011).'Gronkowski is unlikely to re-emerge as an elite fantasy option, but he's in a good enough situation to allow mid-to-back-end TE1 numbers.
