News: 1 hour agoWentz (ankles), who is questionable on the injury report against Tennessee and will be a game-time decision, appeared to practice without any hindrance Friday, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic. He was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday on the official injury report.
Spin: While Wentz will be a game-time decision, Keefer predicts that he will play unless he has severe swelling from Friday's workouts. If Wentz is ruled out, it's not clear if Brent Hundley or Jacob Eason will start. Head coach Frank Reich would not say Friday which backup would start if Wentz can't play.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Wentz is the Colts' new starter after the team acquired him from the Eagles during the offseason. The 2016 second overall pick is coming off a rough 2020 in which he accounted for 21 TDs, 15 INTs, 10 fumbles and career-worst marks in completion rate (57%), YPA (6.0) and off-target rate (league-worst 23%). Wentz had his best NFL season with Colts' coach Frank Reich when both were in Philly in 2017, but that was four seasons ago. Wentz's rough 2020 play, an unproven/underwhelming group of targets and a run-heavy Colts' scheme are likely to limit his fantasy output. The 28-year-old is questionable for Week 1 and should only be drafted in superflex leagues.
