News: 5 days agoDavis caught five of seven targets for 97 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 19-14 loss to the Panthers.
Spin: Davis' only catch of the first half was an exciting one, as he turned the corner and broke a tackle for a 35-yard gain. He added even more material for the highlight reel in the second half, scoring touchdowns of 22 and eight yards as the Jets' offense came alive after taking a goose egg into the locker room. The big-money free agent signing is the clear No. 1 receiving option for a Jets team that will likely find itself playing from behind more often than not.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Davis signed with the Jets after four seasons with the Titans. The 2017 fifth-overall pick underwhelmed during his first three seasons, despite heavy usage, but progressed a bit in 2020 with a 65-984-5 receiving line on 94 targets. It was easily his most efficient season, as he caught 71% of his targets despite a career-high 12.2 aDOT. That helped him to 10.7 YPT (seventh best at WR) and 2.7 YPRR (fourth). Davis is ticketed for an every-down role in New York, but he has yet to post a single top-25 fantasy campaign and will now be working in a potentially run-first and low-scoring scheme with a rookie QB and a crowded WR room (Jamison Crowder, Elijah Moore, Keelan Cole, Denzel Mims). The 26-year-old is a WR3/flex.
