News: 2 days agoJones rushed 13 times for 34 yards and a touchdown and brought in one of two targets for two yards in the Buccaneers' 45-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
Spin: Jones came into the contest riding the wave of three consecutive 100-yard rushing efforts, and although he fell considerably short of the century mark Sunday, he still managed to salvage the day for fantasy managers via a one-yard run with 6:40 remaining in the contest. However, it's worth noting the returning Leonard Fournette (ankle) made a significant impact on Jones' workload Sunday, with the former Jaguar logging just two fewer carries and outpacing Jones in the passing game by five targets. Therefore, the workload split between the two will be one to continue to monitor in a Week 8 Monday night matchup against the Giants.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Following what was a disastrous rookie season in 2018, Jones added weight and got his career back on track with an impressive showing in 2019. After totaling 77 yards on 30 touches in 2018, Jones produced 1,003 yards and six touchdowns on 203 touches last season. Despite his second-round pedigree and superior play relative to his counterparts in the Tampa Bay backfield, Jones was limited to only 37% of the snaps and 47% of the designed runs. It's very possible we've yet to see the best of Jones, as he was drafted very young and is entering his age-23 season. However, following the offseason additions of Leonard Fournette, LeSean McCoy and Ke'Shawn Vaughn, Jones is not an appealing flex options. He should be on benches unless he earns clear lead duties.
