News: 2 days agoJones rushed five times for 20 yards and secured his only target for nine yards in the Buccaneers' 28-22 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.
Spin: For the third straight contest, Jones worked as a clear understudy to lead back Leonard Fournette, who garnered 28 total touches to Jones' six. The fourth-year back saw just 13 snaps from scrimmage, his fourth consecutive game under 15 plays. At this point, it appears it will take an injury to Fournette for Jones to have any fantasy relevance beyond the deepest of formats.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Jones is entering his fourth NFL season having established himself as an effective rusher, but finds himself without a clear lead back role. The 2018 second-round pick shared the backfield with Leonard Fournette in 2020, with the duo playing 12 "full" games together. During those outings, Jones trailed his teammate in snaps (419 to 296) and targets (56 to 23), but led in carries (132 to 114). Jones has shown to be the better rusher of the two (his 5.1 YPC ranked seventh and his 2.4 YAC fourth among RBs), but Fournette isn't going away and Giovani Bernard is now in the mix for passing-down work. Jones will max out as a flex most weeks, but the 24-year-old is a very good insurance option in Tampa Bay's high-scoring offense.
