News: 2 days agoJohnson brought in four of five targets for 16 yards in the Saints' 23-13 loss to the Vikings on Sunday.
Spin: The veteran tight end tied Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele for the team lead in receptions, but given Tyler Shough threw for only 96 yards overall, Johnson couldn't generate any meaningful fantasy production with his quartet of catches. Johnson has recorded at least four receptions in four straight games, and despite Sunday's season-low yardage total, he's still compiled a solid 248 receiving yards and has five catches of 20-plus yards heading into a Week 6 road matchup against the Giants next Sunday.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Johnson's impressive progression continued in 2025, as the converted wide receiver posted career-high marks in targets, catches, yardage and fantasy points (all four were eighth or better among tight ends). Johnson produced nine top-12 fantasy weeks, which tied for second at the position. He has finished in the top 12 in aDOT each of the past four seasons but hasn't been much of an option near the goal line (no more than four TDs or end zone targets in each of the past three seasons). The 29-year-old has added target competition, including eighth-overall pick Jordyn Tyson (once healthy), but he very well could settle in as high as third in target priority in the Saints' Tyler Shough-led offense. Johnson is a fine TE2.
