ESPN Fantasy Projection: Washington selected Bates in the fourth round of the 2021 draft. The Boise State product barely saw the field early in his career, but with Logan Thomas and Ricky Seals-Jones battling injuries, he was promoted to a major offensive role in the second half of the season. From Week 10 on, he played 74% of Washington's snaps, but was limited to an 18-238-1 receiving line on 24 targets and posted one fantasy finish better than 20th. Thomas remains the starter in Washington, but the veteran's early-season availability is in question as he recovers from last season's torn ACL. Bates is worth stashing in dynasty formats, but even if Thomas misses time, Bates is unlikely to land on the TE1 radar.
