News: 4 days agoJones completed 29 of his 39 pass attempts for 281 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's Week 1 loss to Miami.
Spin: Jones appeared comfortable in his first regular-season start as a professional and completed at least one pass to eight different players. He showed a particular connection with Nelson Agholor, as the pair produced gains of 25 and 21 yards as well as a seven-yard touchdown. Though Jones couldn't earn a victory, he led the Patriots to the red zone for a potential game-winning score late in the fourth quarter before Damien Harris lost a fumble to effectively end the contest. Jones will look to build on this performance in a Week 2 matchup against the Jets.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Jones was selected by the Patriots with the 15th pick of April's draft. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound Alabama product is fresh off an elite 2020 campaign in which he completed 77% of 402 pass attempts and posted an 11.1 YPA and 96 total QBR (all were best in this year's class). Oh, and he threw 41 TDs to go along with four INTs. Jones is super poised and accurate, but arm strength and a lack of mobility (35 carries, 14 yards in 2020) are concerns. The latter is going to be extremely detrimental to Jones' fantasy appeal both short and long term. Jones was named the starter, but he's likely to max out as a back-end QB2.
