News: 1 day agoOlave did not play in the Saints' 24-20 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Saturday.
Spin: Olave watched from the sidelines along with a group of New Orleans' key starters, including QB Tyler Shough, RB Travis Etienne, TE Juwan Johnson and others. Third-year wideout Bub Means led the Saints with four catches (on five targets) for 77 yards while Zach Wilson, Hunter Dekkers and Spencer Rattler all cycled in under center. Olave is coming off a career-best 2025 campaign when he recorded 100 catches (on 155 targets) for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns across 16 regular-season games. He also signed a four-year extension worth up to $132 million this offseason, and he should be in line for another productive season while catching passes from Shough in 2026. Olave's next chance to play this preseason will come Saturday, Aug. 22 versus the Rams.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Olave is fresh off a career year in which he reached new highs in targets (156), receptions (100), yardage (1,163) and touchdowns (nine). He finished eighth among receivers in fantasy PPG, which beat out his previous career best of 19th in 2023. Olave finished no lower than seventh among receivers in nearly every counting stat, including end zone targets (12) and air yards (1,816). The big season was a sigh of relief after a 2024 campaign riddled with concussions, and it positions the 26-year-old right back in the fringe-WR1 discussion. Especially with No. 8 overall pick Jordyn Tyson expected to miss a month or two with a hamstring injury, Olave will remain Tyler Shough's top target, and that sets him up for another highly productive campaign.
