News: 3 days agoLance caught both of his targets for 16 yards during the Saints' 34-0 preseason loss to the Rams on Saturday.

Spin: Lance missed the Saints' preseason opener against the Jaguars due to an undisclosed injury, but he was cleared to play against Los Angeles. Several Saints starters -- including wide receivers Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele and rookie first-rounder Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) -- were idle for Saturday's exhibition contest, so Lance joined Bub Means and Kevin Austin as the starters at wide receiver. Lance didn't get off to a great start with a holding penalty late in the first quarter, but he did haul in a nice 12-yard pass from Zach Wilson on the final play of the frame. Lance worked with the Saints' first-team offense earlier in the week during joint practice with the Cowboys, and the North Dakota State product could be the team's WR3 behind Olave and Vele for the first few games of the regular season, considering Tyson is expected to miss several weeks due to his hamstring injury. The Saints will wrap up the preseason this Friday against the Cowboys in Dallas.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Lance was selected by the Saints in the fourth round of April's draft. Trey's little brother is the lone wide receiver in this rookie class who didn't play a single snap at the FBS level. However, he was productive as a perimeter receiver at North Dakota State, posting receiving lines of 75-1,053-17 and 51-1,079-8 over the last two seasons. He's a year or so older than most of his classmates, but he dominated at the combine with terrific showings in the 40-yard dash (4.34), vertical (41.5) and broad jump (133). He has the size and skillset to battle Devaughn Vele for New Orleans' No. 3 gig behind Chris Olave and first-round rookie Jordyn Tyson. Lance's primary value is in dynasty leagues.
