News: 3 days agoJohnson caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday night's 28-20 win over the Cowboys.
Spin: Johnson operated as a clear second-fiddle to Isaiah Likely at tight end in Week 1, with the latter reeling in all eight of his targets for 78 yards and two scores in the game. Johnson was on the field for only 32 of the team's 69 offensive snaps, and as long as Likely is available, he won't have much fantasy appeal this season.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Johnson was a solid find by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2024 draft, but he's headed for a reduced role this season following New York's signing of Isaiah Likely and Malik Nabers' return to health. The change comes after Johnson ranked top 12 among tight ends in both snaps and routes, but 23rd in catches and 19th in yards last season. Johnson was busy near the goal line (seven end zone targets), but struggled with drops (tight end-high nine), which led to a poor 63% catch rate. Johnson finished 23rd in fantasy PPG and now may be lucky to see a target or two per game. He's well off the fantasy radar.
