Can 49ers overcome injuries vs. Giants in Week 3? (1:01)

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Giants final injury report this week has S Adrian Colbert (quad) doubtful and CB Brandon Williams (groin) questionable. Nothing compared to the 49ers, even if you consider Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard on IR.

Scott: The AFC is in great shape

Chris Canty joined the show, and we eventually got to sports after he and Bart went at it. Plus, Sam Darnold answers a tough question on Audio Files.

Darnold is so bad, he takes the heat off Jones

Chris wonders if Sam Darnold is so bad that he's dominating the conversation about New York football-- and making Daniel Jones look good by comparison. Are Jones and Darnold the franchise quarterbacks the Giants and Jets are looking for?

Lasting only one quarter with Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate and Darius Slayton on the field together was "tough, unfortunate," Engram said. They were expecting big things but this was the hand they were dealt.

Source: MetLife turf ruled OK after 49ers' gripes

The turf at MetLife Stadium has been inspected and found to meet all standards days after the 49ers had complained about the surface following several injuries to their players in a Week 2 game against the Jets.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Reps from the NFL, NFLPA, MetLife Stadium, Giants and Jets, Field Turf and the independent field inspector conducted an additional review of the field surface at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday, per league source. It was again verified that the field meets all applicable standards and protocols for NFL field surfaces.

Giants sign Freeman; Shepard (toe) goes on IR

The Giants signed former Pro Bowl running back Devonta Freeman after losing Saquon Barkley for the season, with the expectation Freeman could play as soon as Sunday.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

WR Sterling Shepard (turf toe) was placed on injured reserve. That means he's sidelined a minimum of three games. Another hit for the Giants offense.

Can the Jets stay relevant?
