"Picked up my son, ran around the house like he was Simba." Safe to say Jordan Matthews is amped to be back in Philly.

The Eagles have signed G Brandon Brooks to a four-year contract extension through 2024. He is having a career year despite coming off an Achilles tear. One of the best guards in the game gets rewarded.

The Eagles claimed rookie S Marcus Epps off waivers. It's essentially a safety swap with Minnesota, which waived Epps to make room for Andrew Sendejo after Sendejo was cut by Philly.

Bears-Eagles film — Third down pressure from the Philadelphia defense jumped out. Play man-coverage — with a post safety over the top — and heat up the pocket. Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky struggled to keep his eyes up the field, and his footwork was a major issue vs. blitz schemes. Given the amount of man-coverage the Lions play, I would anticipate a similar pressure script from the Detroit defense in passing situations this Sunday.

Source: Matthews rejoins Eagles to fill WR void

Jordan Matthews, who has a strong relationship with QB Carson Wentz, is back with the Eagles for a third time. He'll sign with the team now that DeSean Jackson has been placed on IR.

The Eagles are expected to sign WR Jordan Mathews, a source confirmed. He has a strong relationship with Carson Wentz and knows the system, but isn't a natural replacement for deep threat DeSean Jackson. Matthews more of a possession receiver who is best operating out of the slot, a position currently occupied by Nelson Agholor.

Eagles place WR Jackson on injured reserve

DeSean Jackson, who suffered a full tear of his abdominal muscle and will need surgery, has been placed on IR by the Eagles and can't return until the wild-card round.

The Eagles released S Andrew Sendejo Tuesday. If he was still on roster by Saturday, he'd count against the comp-pick formula. Releasing him should amount to an extra mid-round pick in 2020.

In need of wide receiver help with DeSean Jackson sidelined, the Eagles worked out Jordan Matthews Tuesday, a source confirmed. Matthews was drafted by the Eagles in the second round in 2014 and has had two stints in Philadelphia over his career. He is very close with QB Carson Wentz. Matthews was released by the 49ers in late October after appearing in one game this season.

Eagles running back Jordan Howard made a statement against his former team, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown in a 22-14 win over the Chicago Bears that puts the Eagles (5-4) in good position heading into their bye. Fueled largely by their success on the ground, the Eagles responded to consecutive blowout losses to the Vikings and Cowboys with back-to-back wins over the Bills and Bears that puts them back on solid footing. They have home games against the Patriots and Seahawks coming out of the bye, but their finishing schedule is favorable after that. It's a two-horse race between the Eagles and the Cowboys (4-3) for the NFC East crown. Philly plays four of its next six games at home, including a Week 16 tilt against Dallas.
