News: 2 days agoBinnington is expected to start Tuesday's home preseason game against Minnesota, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports.

Spin: Binnington is poised to take back control of the St. Louis crease this season following Ville Husso's departure for Detroit. The former struggled last year, posting a mark of 18-14-4 with a 3.13 GAA and .901 save percentage, but there is potential for a bounce-back effort.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Binnington was wobbly during the regular season in 2021-22, recording a 3.13 GAA and .901 save percentage over 37 appearances while being outplayed by Ville Husso. However, Binnington rediscovered his 2019 Stanley Cup form in the 2022 postseason, posting a 1.72 GAA and .949 save percentage in six games before suffering a knee injury. Binnington's injury didn't require surgery, and the Blues saw enough from him in the playoffs to feel comfortable trading away Husso. If Binnington can revert closer to his career 2.58 GAA and .911 save percentage, he should pick up plenty of wins as the clear starter over offseason signee Thomas Greiss on a contending Blues team.
