News: 4 days agoForsberg allowed a goal on 25 shots during Wednesday's 2-1 preseason win over Anaheim.
Spin: Forsberg allowed three goals on 16 shots during his preseason debut against the Golden Knights, but he was much more effective Wednesday. He gave up the first goal of the game in the opening frame, but the Kings responded with a pair of goals later in the period en route to the victory. Forsberg will likely begin the 2026-27 season as the Kings' backup netminder but could see increased opportunities if Darcy Kuemper struggles.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Forsberg opened his first season in Los Angeles as the clear cut backup to Darcy Kuemper, but by the time the playoffs rolled around he had stolen the No. 1 job for the Kings. The Swede's 16-12-5 record along with a 2.57 GAA and .909 save percentage were some of his best numbers to date. Kuemper is making $5.25 million and was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy as recently as two years ago, so he should still be considered the favorite for playing time, but this has the look of a full-blown committee. Forsberg could have some sneaky fantasy value if he is somehow able to hang onto the top spot for most of the year.
