ESPN Fantasy Projection: Considering his age (37 in March) and how bad the Flames were, Backlund had another productive season. He appeared in all 82 games for the fourth time in five seasons, managing 17 goals, 43 points, and 186 shots on goal. Backlund has also been a plus player in back-to-back years, no easy task given Calgary's recent struggles. There was a time earlier in his career when Backlund would threaten 12-15 power-play points per season, but those days are gone. He had just three a year ago. The Swede will return for his fourth season as the Calgary captain in 2026-27, but he's at considerable risk of a decreased role as the Flames try to work their younger players into more prominent positions.
