Fantasy Hockey
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Those that reached for Victor Hedman in fantasy leagues last year were burned badly, and those fortunate enough to get Sergachev at a relative discount were rewarded handsomely. The latter had by far his most productive season to date, posting 10 goals and 64 points in 79 games, a number that tied him with Seattle's Vince Dunn for tenth among all NHL defenders in scoring. At the heart of Sergachev's surge was an increased role with the man advantage. He tallied 27 points on the power play last year after managing just 28 power-play points in 204 games over the course of the prior three seasons combined. Hedman isn't going anywhere and that should always be considered when analyzing Sergachev's fantasy potential, but the 25-year-old seems like the Tampa Bay rearguard to have heading into the 2023-24 campaign.
