ESPN Fantasy Projection: Those banking on a breakout year from Caufield in 2022-23 got their wish... sort of. The diminutive sniper posted a whopping 26 goals in 46 games before undergoing shoulder surgery which ended his year. Caufield separated his shoulder twice, once in late December and again in mid-January before he and the Canadiens decided to get the issue repaired during a season in which the team was going nowhere. Clearly comfortable with Caufield's long-term prognosis, Montreal handed him an eight-year, $62.8 million deal in early June. The University of Wisconsin product should be fully healthy for training camp and could easily threaten the 40-goal mark in 2023-24, health permitting.
