News: 6 days agoSlafkovsky scored a goal on two shots while also recording two goals and two PIM during Saturday's 4-3 preseason overtime win over the Maple Leafs.
Spin: Slafkovsky's production took a significant step forward during the 2025-26 campaign while appearing in all 82 regular-season games for the second time in the last three seasons. He recorded 30 goals, 43 assists, 105 hits, 78 blocked shots and 52 PIM while averaging 18:32 of ice time, and he enters the 2026-27 season with considerable upside due to his well-rounded skill set.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Having just completed his fourth NHL season, Slafkovsky finally had the breakout campaign many had been waiting for. He appeared in all 82 games for the Habs, posting career-best marks in goals (30), assists (43), points (73), plus/minus (plus-nine), shots on goal (180), average time on ice (18:32) and power-play points (28). The jump in production with the man advantage was the key. For comparison's sake, entering this past season, the former No. 1 overall pick (2022) had 26 power-play points in his first 200 NHL games. Seemingly locked in to a spot both on Montreal's top line alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield and their No. 1 power-play unit, Slafkovsky should produce at a similar level, at a minimum, this upcoming campaign.
